This Memorial wall in Bladel is erected in 1946 and dedicated to the 15 victims of the American crew of two C-47 transport carriers and to the 20 civilians who died when the planes crashed near the farm of the family Spliethof. The design is from J.A. Verhoeven.
In Bladel and surroundings there were anti-aircraft guns. Especially slow and low flying twin engine planes als the C-47 were an easy target.
On 17 september 1944 the 'Picadilly Filly' and the 'Clay Pigeon' crashed. Both members of the crew as well as three members of the Spliethof-family died.
These planes joined Operation Market Garden.
