Westfront Nieuwpoort

Westfront Nieuwpoort shows you the full story of the flooding of the Yser plain, which brought to a halt the German invasion for Nieuwpoort. A story about the power of the seawater and the smart management of locks and locks.

The perfect place to tell the story of the inundation is the King Albert-1 monument on the edge of the sluice complex "De Ganzepoot".

Under the monument, Nieuwpoort has set up a contemporary and interactive visitor center. A highlight of the visit is certainly the projection of the brought to life Iron Panorama, originally a painting 115 m long by 15 m high.

The lift takes you to the top of the King Albert I monument where you can enjoy the panorama over the coast and the polders of the Westhoek.
