Belgian Pillbox Houffalize

This bunker is located along the road from Bastogne to Houffalize. These Belgian bunkers were built between 1933 and 1935 and saw sporadic combat in 1940, particularly at Chabrehez, Martelange and Bodange. The Germans and allies also saw no use in the lightly armored bunkers with walls of only 50 to 80 cm. A total of 321 bunkers were built, of which 309 were of these "forts" and had to protect the province from invasions. Almost all bunkers can still be found and have a glass door so that you can see the inside. In some, the support for a machine gun in the firing opening can still be seen.
