The monument called Airman in Training is located at Memorial Provincial Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is in reference to the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, which saw air force personnel from throughout the British Commonwealth train in Canada.
The monument consists of a bronze statue atop a stone plinth. The statue is an airman in flying gear, looking up at the sky with his arm/hand raised. There is a bronze plaque on the plinth which reads:
AIRMAN IN TRAINING
THIS MEMORIAL IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF
THOSE AIRMEN AND INSTRUCTORS
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES
WHILE TRAINING IN CANADA DURING WORLD WAR II
ERECTED BY
THE WARTIME PILOTS AND OBSERVERS ASSOCIATION OF WINNIPEG
SEPTEMBER 9, 1984
