Remembrance monument 'Always'
The Beek en Donk war memorial consists of two parts. One is a pillar of the Donk canal bridge, which was destroyed during WWII. The text is carved into it: "In memory of those who died of war violence." The second part contains the old clock from the former monastery, now 'Huize Leefdael'.
The monument was designed by Wim Willems and unveiled in 1995. The name 'Always' was coined by pupils of primary school 'De Heindert'. Every year on May 4, the memorial commemorates the victims of Laarbeek who died during WWII.
