Monument in honor of Léon Trésignies, corporal of the 2nd Infantry Regiment, born in Bierghes on March 26, 1886. Léon Tresignies was killed on August 26, 1914 at the Verbrande Brug in Grimbergen.
He was fatally hit while attempting to open the bridge over the channel to enable a counter attack of the Belgian army on the German troops.
This plaque used to be on the facade of Léon Tresignies' house at Bierghes.
