This monument complex was created in 1917 as a military cemetery for Muslim soldiers who died in the First World War. A total of 19 war graves from the First and five war graves from the Second World War were situated here. The remains were transferred to Brookwood military cemetery after repeated vandalism. The memorial commemorates Muslim soldiers who perished in both world wars.
The Dutch-Indian minister Soejono was buried here in 1943.
