Memorial René Pargala

At the edge of the Bois de Luchy is a cross and memorial stone for René Pargala, a French soldier of the 11th Infantry Regiment, who died in Ochamps on August 22, 1914.

He was a liaison officer.
He has been a loving son and brother
and devoted loyal comrade of France.
He fell under the beatings
of the German patrol.
His supreme thought went
to those he loved and he died
like a hero and a martyr
for his country and his duty.
He was 25.
