War Memorial Ahrweiler

Ahrweiler is the old part of Bad Neuenahr. The center is located within the old city walls.
This city wall, complete with moat, gates and towers, dates from the Middle Ages (13th century) and is still completely intact today.

On the Ahrtor, on the outside of the city wall, is the monument to the 2 world wars.
It is shaped like a cube.
On the 4 sides is an image in relief with dozens of names around it.

For the 1914-1918 war it is one long list of names, arranged alphabetically.
Before the war 1939 - 1945 the names are listed alphabetically by war year. Here a distinction is also made between fallen, civilian casualties and missing persons.
