Belgian War Graves De Panne

The municipal cemetery contains the graves of civilian victims of the Second World War, most of them victims of aerials bombing.

There is the grave of MATON Raphael, Police Commissioner. On 2 June 1940, the old town hall was hit by a shell. MATON Raphael was badly injured and he died a few days later.

Family grave ZWERTVAEGHER-VERBANCK mentioning ZWERTVAEGHER Madeleine as victim of the war 1914-1918, ZWERTVAEGHER August and DE WIT Jeroom as victims of the war 1940-1945.

Family grave LENAERS, LENAERS Maurice, his wife MAERTEN Maria and their children Gerard, Pieter, Eugenie and Henri, war casualties all remained at sea on 21 May 1940.

There is the common grave of civil victims of Adinkerke, who were buried here in De Panne.
