On the R.K. St. Laurentius Cemetery (which was still called RK Crooswijk when the tombstone was placed) is a memorial stone for the Italian military victims of the Spanish flu.
It is a stone on which the Italian community commemorates the Italian soldiers who died in the Netherlands during and after the First World War (especially Spanish flu).
Incidentally, only a part of the mentioned Italians who died in the Netherlands have ever been in Rotterdam. The others have been buried in the places where they died. Some of the soldiers are in Leusden, at Rusthof.
