Kunishi Ridge

Kunishi Ridge was a natural obstacle during the Battle of Okinawa. The Japanese defenders had caves, gun positions and fortified tombs here. The U.S. 1st Marine Division captured the final portion of the ridge on June 17, 1945 after days of heavy fighting.
