Belgian War Grave Libin

At the municipal cemetery in the Latin Quarter at the church of Libin is the grave of a executed resistance member of the Second World War:

"Antoine Duchêne
Doctor, resistance
Was shot on the Citadel of Liège
on March 4, 1944
by the Nazis and their servants "

Antoine DUCHENE was born in Libin and worked as a doctor in Jamoigne.
He was a reserve officer in the Belgian army.
During the Second World War he became a member of the resistance of the Independence Front.
On March 26, 1943, he was arrested by the Germans and charged with espionage and sabotage.
On Saturday 4 March 1944 he was executed on the citadel of Liège, was 37 years old.

His name is mentioned on the memorial cross for those executed at the Citadel of Liège
