This weighbridge served during both world wars. in the fall of 1944 this building was used as a field kitchen for the Canadian soldiers who liberated Cadzand in October 1944. Many initials are carved into the outer walls of the weighbridge, of which it will always remain unclear whether they belong to Kezantenaren, to Dutch soldiers who guarded the border with Belgium during the First World War, or whether Canadians wanted to record their presence in this way.
