This FA Unterstand was built during the German occupation as part of the Atlantikwall (Stützpunktgruppe Castricum) on the terrain called 'De Brabantse Landbouw', named after the farmhouse situated in this area. Wiederstandsnest 49 was composed of 28 defensive structures, of which only 3 remain today.
More information about Stützpunktgruppe Castricum can be found in Part 2 of the book 'Castricum en Bakkum tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog', written by John Heideman (2016).
