Belgian War Graves Transinne

On the old municipal cemetery at the church is a war grave of the First World War:

René PIERRET : volunteer in the 6th regiment of the Genie, born in Transinne on September 22, 1895, died in the Anglo-Belge hospital in Calais on August 28, 1918.

There is also a family grave in which 2 victims of the 2nd World War:
Jean-Pierre HARDY : died for the fatherland in Temploux on May 12, 1940
Edgard NASSOGNE : died for the fatherland on September 16, 1944, aged 40.

Jean-Pierre HARDY was a soldier with the 3rd Ardennes Fighter 2nd Battalion 5th Company.
On May 12, his regiment was to withdraw from the Ardennes, stopping west of Namur for a much-needed rest and reorganization. The regiments were housed along the Steenweg op Nijvel to later take a position on the Wavre-Gembloux-Namur line.
In the afternoon the German Luftwaffe discovered the columns of the Ardennes Fighters and launched a heavy air raid in which dozens of soldiers lost their lives. The center of gravity of the bombardment was in Temploux, where the 3rd company in particular had to take serious blows and would regret 56 dead.

Edgard NASSOGNE was a member of the secret army (maquisard of Fenffe/Hérock).
On September 3, 1944, he was one of the fighters who set a trap in the Bois des Tailles (near Ciergnon) for an SS convoy on its way to Dinant.
He was arrested, tortured and later shot by the Gestapo.
His name is mentioned on a memorial plaque in the Notre-Dame de Maquis chapel in Hérock.
