Located on the IJzerenbeek on the edge of the battlefield, this building, which dates from the beginning of the 19th century, played an important role during the bloody battle on August 12, 1914. It became the strategic point for the German attacks on horseback in order to eliminate the Belgian guns that were stationed on the Mettenberg. The Belgian soldiers had barricaded themselves in the outbuildings and the bushes around the farm. They withstood the charges of the German cavalry for more than three hours.
There is a memorial plaque on the farm for the 4th Regiment of Lancers for their resistance during the battle of 12 August 1914
