Oscar Lelarge, head of the railway station at Huy-Statte, collected information during the First World War that was sent to the Allies. On 2 May 1915, he was arrested as a suspect by the German occupier. He was sentenced to death on 5 June 1915, for espionage. On 6 June 1915 he was transferred to the Chartreuse in Liège and executed the following day.
The street where he lived was named after him. He was arrested at his home, a memorial plaque commemorates this tragic event.
Oscar Lelarge was buried in the Belgian military plot of the Robertmont cemetery in Liège.
