In Vilkaviškis, on the edge of the civilian cemetery, there is a separate section with German graves from the First World War. Central here is the memorial cross, around it are neat rows with the well-known German concrete crosses. The dead here fell in 1915, in addition to the German victims, some unknown Russians are also buried here.
Where the layout is orderly, there is some overdue maintenance in this cemetery: some crosses are badly damaged, some others are no longer legible due to moss growth and the grass has not been mowed for quite some time.
