Atlantikwall Bunker Ver-sur-Mer

This pillbox was designed to cover the beach, explaining its armament’s characteristic position relative to the sea, with gun slits facing inland.
This orientation made it less vulnerable to attacks from the open sea.
Nevertheless, it fel lto an attack from the seaward side, A Sherman Crab tank, equipped for de-mining operations, was immobi;ised on the beach, and concentrated its remaining firing potential on neutralising the position.
