Memorial Stone 100 Years Anniversary

In the place Gildehaus in the "Country of Bad Bentheim" is a boulder placed in honor and memory of the 100th anniversary of the "Battle of the Nations" the battle of Leipzig.

The End of the "French Era". The "Battle of the Nations at Leipzig" lasted from October 16 to 19, 1813 and was part of the Coalition Wars from 1792 to 1815. Emperor Napoleon's troops suffered a heavy defeat against the allied armies of the Austrians, Prussia , Russians and Sweden. In total, some 600,000 soldiers took part in what was then the largest battle in world history, in which 90,000 lost their lives. Napoleon fled with the rest of his army to France.
