War Monument Grüfflingen

At Grüfflingen's St. Brigida's Church stands the monument to fallen and missing soldiers and the civilian victims of both World Wars of the village.

During the First World War, 18 soldiers died. During the Second World War, 18 soldiers were killed and 6 civilians were killed. As is more common in the region, the memorial from 1957 was replaced by a modern version. Here the original memorial plaques were placed on a hard stone wall, placed on a pedestal of rubble stone. The central message is clear: 'Der Toten zur Ehren, der Lebenden zur steten Mahnung' (to honor the dead, to permanently warn the living). A striking detail is the white statue of Our Lady with the caption 'Königin des Friedens'.
