On 6 March 1945 two British privates died on this spot. They both served in the 4th Battalion Lincolsnshire Regiment, 49th West Riding Infantry Division, The Polar Bears.

Private John James Mc Nee
Their bodies were never recovered. Both men are remembered at the Groesbeek Memorial Canadian War Cemetery Groesbeek.
