Belgian War Graves Chiny

At the municipal cemetery of Chiny is the Belgian war grave of
Henri SOMBRYN.

"Dear memory
to our beloved children
Henry SOMBRYN
Fallen on the field of honour
on May 19, 1940
27 years old"

He was soldier 2nd Ardennes Fighter 3rd Bat 8th Comp.
On 19 May 1940 he was killed in Mespelare during heavy German attempts to cross the Dender between Gijzegem and Oudegem (East Flanders).

There are the graves of civilian victims:
Aristide FORGET, born in 1897.
He was arrested in 1918 and deported to France.
There he died in Chauvency after one month of hard labour, at the age of 21.
