The memorial to the military dead of the First World War was unveiled in 1922 in the presence of King Albert.
Later, the names of the military dead of World War II were added.
In an octagonal flowerbed stands a bronze statue on a high narrow plinth (with a frieze of laurel and oak leaves), resting on a wide plinth. The statue depicts a young woman in an ornately draped dress. In one hand she holds a helmet decorated with a laurel wreath, in the other she holds the handle of a dagger pressed to her cheek.
On the front on the pedestal: "Fallen to our brothers-in-arms for justice and liberty", "A nos frčres d'armes"; on the plinth "1914-1918" - "1940-1945".
A heavy bluestone cross was placed against the back of the pedestal, in which a bronze memorial plaque "1940-1945" has been incorporated with the "Names of the fallen soldiers of De Panne" in 2 columns.
