Buckley Space force Base

his Space Force Base is named after Lieutenant John H. Buckley who was killed in the First World War and is buried in the Meuse-Argonne American Military Cemetery near his crash site. He was the only Colorado pilot to die in World War I

He flew with the 28th Aero Squadron.

This location was initially a bombing range and auxiliary airfield for Lowry Field in the period 1938-1941

From 1941 a base was built that served as an army air corps technical school to train pilots for the coming war.
From May 1942, the base was expanded to 700 buildings.
Eventually basic military training, chemical warfare and also arctic rendition training were taught and all in all more than 90,000 soldiers were trained during WWII
