In 1930 the Girls Secondary School became a Girls High School , thanks to a progressive citizenry. However, co-education was abolished. When the National Socialists, who wanted the women in the house, came to power in 1933, the scientific upper school would disappear, but Dr. Reinhold Frick managed to save the superstructure with some tricks. The headmaster was accused of wrongdoing (including advising girls without special talent to pursue an educational career) to get rid of him, which was also successful as a retirement in 1937. His successor was Dr. Hermann Bayer, who previously pursued the National Socialist goals. In addition to the scientific training, a 3-year women's school was established and a year earlier the final diploma of the secondary school was awarded. Sophie Scholl attended school from 1932 to 1940.
Immediately after his suicide, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was taken to this reserve lazeret in Ulm. Here it was "officially" established that he had died of cardiac arrest.
Rommel's wife and his son have also been here.
The building now houses the Hans und Sophie-Scholl-Gymnasium.
