Belgian War Graves Executed Civilians Baelen

There is a monument and mass grave in the Baelen cemetery. It commemorates 12 civilians and 1 soldier from Baelen.

PAUQUET-SCHILS Veuve, age 52, farmer's wife, executed together with her son Pierre and daughter Barbe on August 8th, 1914 by the Germans on the 4th day of World War I during the German advance to Liège.

PAUQUET Pierre, age 31, farmer, son of Pauquet-Schils Veuve.

PAUQUET Barbe, age 24, farmer's wife, daughter of Pauquet-Schils Veuve.

JANCLAES Pierre Joseph, age 20, soldier with the 6th line regiment, killed on September 12th, 1914 at Wilsele (Flemish Brabant), and buried in the cemetery military cemetery of Veltem-Beisem (Flemish Brabant).

DEMOULIN François, age 69, retired, shot during the passage of the German army on August 9th, 1914.

YVENS Jeanne, age 13 !, shot during the passage of the German army on August 9th, 1914.

MACKENZIE, age unknown, shot during the passage of the German army on August 9th, 1914.
