This poetry tableau at the Boniface Church in Leeuwarden was unveiled to commemorate the evacuation of 30,000 people from Roermond to Friesland in early 1945. 8,500 of them ended up in Leeuwarden.
The stone on which Meity Volke's poem 'In the distant houses' is carved is placed next to the main entrance of the church.
