Stumbling Stone Eekwal 28

'A HUMAN BEING IS FORGOTTEN ONLY WHEN HIS NAME IS FORGOTTEN'.
(Talmud)

Here in Zwolle one Stumbling Stones is laid on December 6, 2019 for:

JOZEPH TROOSTWIJK, murdered in July 1943 in Stophorst.

This Stumbling Stone is located here for a Jewish war victim, who was in hiding. The limited freedom of movement, the hopelessness and the loneliness during his hiding place caused a lot of tension and made him mentally tangled. His behavior posed a danger to his environment with all the associated risks. It was therefore decided to kill Jo in consultation with members of the resistance from the vigilante group from Meppel. In 1946 his remains were reburied at the Jewish cemetery in Zwolle.
