On the wall of the Old Cemetery in Roeselare are pictures of 8 Polish soldiers who died during the liberation of Roeselare.
One of the signs reads;
In 1947 the 'Militia Board for the Identification and Burial of the Victims of the War', part of the Ministry of the Interior, decided to unite all fallen Polish soldiers on the plot in Lommel.
The eight 'Roeselaar' Poles are transferred to Lommel in the autumn of 1947 and are buried there together with Polish soldiers who died in action in Flanders.
