Kastellbunker Bäckerstraße Mannheim

This Hochbunker was built so that civilians could shelter from Allied bombings. This five-storey type was also called Kastellbunker because of its resemblance to a fortress with corner towers.
This bunker officially accommodates 1850 people, but in an emergency more than 4000 people found shelter here.
