The eastern main entrance to Venlo airport was gate no. 9 on the B221. This entrance did not have a guard building, but it was permanently guarded, as the airport staff often spent their free time in Lobberich, Leuth and Kaldenkirchen. The concrete block with the inscription 'Tor 9' is a piece of rubble from a hangar and was placed on April 27, 1985 as a reminder of the former entrance to the airport. 'Tor 9' has acquired a new meaning as an orientation point for walkers and cyclists.
