War Memorial Borghorst

The monument was erected in memory of the fallen inhabitants of Borghorst during the German unification wars (German-Danish, German-German and German-French wars in the period 1864-1871. The standing figure of Germania with wreath was originally placed on the square in front of the church.Since the original statue was naked, it was thrown from its plinth by the inhabitants because of the controversy that had arisen.Afterwards, it was placed "clothed" in front of the town hall, later moved to its current location because of the traffic situation.
