These brass plaques (Stolpersteine or stumbling stones), placed on 15-2-2015 and 25-11-2019, commemorate:

* HERSZEL PRESZOW (born 1878, arrested and interned Mechelen 20-10-1942, deported 24-10-1942, Auschwitz murdered)
* ESTERA PRESZOW-TUCHSZNAJDER (born 1911, arrested and interned Mechelen 20-10-1942, deported 24-10-1942, Auschwitz murdered)
* SALOMON TUCHSNAJDER (born 1939, arrested and interned Mechelen 20-10-1942, deported 24-10-1942, Auschwitz murdered)
* ALINE LOITZANSKI (born 1916, resistance fighter, arrested 10-12-1941, interned Sint-Gilles and Mechelen, deported 25-8-1942, Auschwitz murdered)
* JACQUES LOITZANSKI (born 1918, resistance fighter, arrested 10-12-1941, interned Breendonk, murdered 5-3-1943)

These Stolpersteine lie here for Jewish war victims and resistance fighters, persecuted, deported and/or murdered in World War II.

"Stolpersteine” is an art project for Europe by Gunter Demnig to commemorate victims of National Socialism (Nazism).
Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) are small, 10x10cm brass plaques placed in the sidewalk in front of the last voluntary residence of (usually Jewish) victims of the Nazis. Each plaque is provided with the victim’s, date of birth, and fate. By doing this, Gunter Demnig gives an individual memorial to each victim. One stone, one name, one person. He cites the Talmud: “A human being is forgotten only when his or her name is forgotten.”
