On the Südenfriedhof Cemetery in Hamm are 160 War Graves from the First World War and 1115 war graves (Kriegsgräber) from the Second World War. Of these, there are 759 graves of Germans. These are both people who were killed by bombings as German soldiers. On the graves of the German soldiers are generally rank and in some cases army unit. This is not always the case with German war graves.
In 1997, another Second Wolrd War casualty was put to rest in this cemetery, it is the grave of the German pilot Feldwebel Heinrich Langohr. He crashed with two other crew members during the war and was only recovered in 1997.
