At the back of the civil cemetery of Saint-Médard, next to the church, you can still see the wall and the entrance porch of the old military cemetery. The graves themselves have disappeared.
Plaques in French and German provide information on the number of victims buried on either side of the passage.

The Battle of the Frontiers was a series of battles in World War I between 7 August and 13 September 1914 in the Ardennes region and northern Metz between France and the German Empire.
The French invaded Belgium but encountered two German armies on August 22, 1914. The French suffered heavy losses.
