This monument commemorates the Battle of Leipzig or the Battle of Nations. This battle took place from October 16 to 19, 1813. The battle was fought by the coalition armies of Russia, Prussia, Austria and Sweden against the French army of Napoleon Bonaparte. Total more than 500,000 soldiers.
