War Memorial Rheine

A beautiful and grand monument has been erected in Rheine in memory of those who died in the First World War. The monument was erected between 1925 and 1927 on a hill, the Thieberg. A redoubt from the Thirty Years' War in the west of Rheine. The monument consists of pillars of 12 meters high. Crossbeams with the names of the prominent battlegrounds, written in runic script.

Inscriptions:
Stone blocks in the center of the monument:
"OUR 780 FALLEN COMrades – Military Federation Rheine"

The battlegrounds listed;
"South Sea, Gorlice, Carpathians, Tannenberg, Somme, Verdun, Kiautschou, Champagne, Marne, Balkan, Isonzo, Skagerrak, Flanders, Arras"

There are also 2 boulders in the same park, 1x with German war cross and 1x with a memorial plaque of those killed during a mission in Afghanistan.
