LIBERATION ROUTE MARKER 255
On 25 March 1945, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill arrived at this location on the bank of the Rhine.
Churchill, Eisenhower and Montgomery and some journalists look over the river and the land beyond from the balcony on the first floor of the restaurant "Wacht am Rhein".
Extensive filming and photos are taken here.
Churchill also crosses the Rhine with a landing craft here and visits the men of the great Rhine crossing.
