Memorial Peter Tazelaar Hindeloopen

In front of the Hindeloopen museum a bronze statue was revealed on 22nd June 2013 for Peter Tazelaar. He was an active member of the Dutch Resistance, 'Engelandvaarder' and secret agent. He spent the last years of his life in Hindeloopen.
The monument is made of a wooden pole with a glass plate with a short text. On top of the pole is a bronze statue of Tazelaar with his dog.

The text reads (in Dutch):

"Peter Tazelaar

5 mei 1920 Fort de Kock, Ned-Indië / 6 juni 1993 Hindeloopen

Soldaat van Oranje, Gentleman-spy, Dolende ridder

Voor allen die strijden voor vrijheid

Voor Engelandvaarder Peter Tazelaar was de vrijheid het hoogste goed. Vanaf november 1944 tot aan de bevrijding opereerde hij als geheim agent in Friesland. Op zijn oude dag vond hij in Hindeloopen zijn thuishaven."
