Memorial 23 August 1914 Maisières

This plaque on the side wall of the church in Maisières commemorates the British soldiers who fell on 23 August 1914 in the Battle of Mons. They were initially buried in the Maisières cemetery. Their bodies were later transferred to the Saint-Symphorien military cemetery
These soldiers belonged to
56e Company Royal Engineers
4th Battalion Royal Fusiliers
2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment
4th Battalion Middlesex Regiment
