Memorial Deported Jews

A stela in the Jardin du Souvenir commemorates "the Jews of Dunkirk who were arrested on French soil in 1942, 1943 and 1944 and deported to the death camps"
In 1939 the Jewish community had about 40 members. 34 men, women and children from Dunkirk were arrested by the Germans or French police during raids between 1942 and 1944 and deported to the Sobibor and Auschwitz extermination camps and killed.
