Memorials of Our Lady of the Chamber Abbey Church

In the Holy Sacrament Chapel, part of the abbey church, two memorial plaques for the parishioners who died during the First World War hang since 1929 next to a crucified Christ.
The plate below reads the Latin verse from 1 Maccabees 3-59:
"For it is better for us to die in battle than to behold the calamities of our people and our sanctuary."
