On November 11, 2018, 100 years after the great war, 19 elm trees were planted in the Brussels region. One of them is in the park next to the war memorial in Sint-Joost-ten-Node.
A memorial plaque in the two national languages reads:
"This is one of the 19 elms planted on November 11, 2018, symbolizing the perseverance with which life endures its trials."
