War Graves Sillé-le-Guillaume

Near the gendarmerie is a military cemetery (with French soldiers from the Franco-Prussian 1870-1871 War, French 1914-1918 soldiers, French 1940 soldiers, Polish soldiers who fought under French uniform in 1917-1918).

All died from their wounds in the military hospitals located near Sillé-Le-Guillaume, except 14 Senegalese who were shot by the German army, the 19 june 1940.

They all were soldiers from the 208čme régiment d'Artillerie Lourde Coloniale (208th Colonial Heavy Artillery Regiment). The 18 of june 1940, all the unit is taken prisonner at Sillé's station by the German army. The 19 of June, because they were Senegalese, 14 of them are shot.

The Senegalese flag is now fluttering upon their mass grave.
