The Pfrimmtal Viaduct was a 260m long and 30m high railway bridge near Marnheim and led from the Hungerberg over the Pfrimmtal to Zellertalbahn, which is still in use at the weekend.
The half-timbered bridge was built between 1872 and 1874. The pillars were built on pile foundations.
Shortly before the end of World War II, the bridge was blown up by retreating German troops on March 20, 1945. The connection to Mainz via Alzey was thus interrupted. After the war, there were some attempts to rebuild the viaduct, but this failed due to cost.
