On May 7, 2010, a memorial monument was erected in the Zuidmoerstraat, just in front of the entrance gate of the chapel of Our Lady Ten Doorn. In the form of an army stretcher, it commemorates the Military Hospital in Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ten Doorn during the two world wars and the temporary cemetery (1944-1945) that was there for Canadian soldiers. The artwork is by Erik Overmeire.
Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ten Doorn is a Catholic college for secondary education in Eeklo, founded in 1832 within the congregation of the Sisters of Charity.
