Memorial Chapel of Our Lady of the Doorn

According to a legend, Our Lady-ten-Doorn is a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary found in 1448 in a flowering thorn bush and which, when moved, would always return to its original location.
Shortly afterwards, some Gray Sisters, from St. Omaars, founded a monastery with a chapel there. During all possible wars and revolts, the statue could be kept safe in various places, including with private individuals.
In 1828 it was placed again in the chapel, which had been purchased in 1820 as a future convent for the Sisters of Charity.
The sisters founded a comprehensive school there that still exists today.

On the Altar of Our Lady is the dressed wooden statue of Mary in a copper rosary and in a wreath of light.
On the wall to the left are numerous white marble thank-you tiles, the oldest dated 1903. Above it hang two display cases with ex-votos, placed in 1869, with a thank-you plaque in between for Our Lady:

"Love and acknowledgment to our beloved Our Lady Ten-Doorn who has preserved the city of Eecloo intact.
Nov 2, 1918"
