Architect Bouwman built this club in 1871 on behalf of the Beaumonde van Venlo. This club for rich men and their supporters flourished for about 30 years. Then the draft came in. The Ursuline sisters occupied it for a while and during the war years the Augustinian fathers were in it.
In World War II the German occupier called canteens for officers and men ''Kasinos'' and this undoubtedly explains the (demonstrable) misunderstanding that the building was also used as ''Offizierskasino''. That need was already amply met: at Fliegerhorst Venlo there were no fewer than 6 large canteen buildings, 2 of which were for officers.
Today it is a municipal monument, but since the eighties it has fallen into serious disrepair.
Finally, the W.A.A. in it, the workshop adapted labor. The building has since been partially demolished. Only the walls are still standing.
